High above Lac Leman the Lavaux vineyards cover the south-facing slopes with immense views across the lake.
Oeschinensee is a stunning brilliant turquoise lake in the Bernese Oberland.

We had a fabulous sunny June day in 2011 walking in the Lavaux vineyards above Lac Leman. Beginning at Saint-Saphorin we climbed west to Lutry, catching the local train back.

The most common grape grown here is probably the white Chasselas.

We had a very welcome beer in a lovely traditional bar/shop in Riex which I think has now gone (2019). Great shame, it was full of character.

Around eleven kilometres in all, finishing with a pizza in Lutry.

This most beautiful of Alpine lakes lies just east of Kandersteg in the Bernese Oberland. On another glorious June day, in 2015, we completed a long and quite strenuous walk above the lake.

Such stunning views down to the deep turquoise blue lake, it is more than worth the climb up.
It was a good time to see the beautiful alpine flowers too.

We had sausages for lunch at a small mountain restaurant above the lake before continuing on.
